This policy explains what information Kitchen Answers (mykitchenanswers.com) collects, why, and what control you have over it. We’ve tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.
The short version: you can read this entire site without giving us personal information. We only receive personal information directly from you if you choose to contact us.
What we collect
If you contact us
If you contact us by email, we receive the information you choose to send — typically your email address and your message. We use that information to reply to you and, where you’ve reported an error, to correct the site. We don’t sell your personal information to advertisers.
Automatically, when you visit
Like almost all websites, our web server records standard technical information when a page is requested: IP address, browser type, device type, the page requested, and the page you came from. This is used for security and to understand which pages are useful.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site uses a cookie consent tool, so when you first visit you’re asked which categories you’ll accept.
- Necessary — required for the site to function, including remembering your cookie choices. These can’t be switched off.
- Functional — remember preferences so the site behaves the way you left it.
- Analytical — help us understand which pages people find useful, in aggregate.
- Advertising — used by advertising networks to limit repetition and measure performance.
You can decline non-essential cookies, change your choices later through the consent tool, and clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Declining them doesn’t stop you reading anything on this site.
Analytics
We may use a web analytics service to see which pages are read and how people arrive at the site. This is used in aggregate — we’re interested in whether the food storage page is useful, not in you personally. We don’t use analytics to build profiles of individuals.
Advertising
This site may display advertising, including through Google AdSense or similar networks. Where it does, those networks may set cookies and use them to show ads based on your previous visits to this and other sites.
You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google at adssettings.google.com, and from many other networks at optout.aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu.
Affiliate links
Some links may be affiliate links. Following one may let the retailer know you arrived from this site, usually through a cookie they set. We don’t receive your personal details from that process — only, at most, a record that a purchase was referred. See the affiliate disclosure.
Who else sees your information
We don’t sell your personal information. It may be handled by services we use to operate the site, such as our web host and email provider, where necessary for them to provide those services.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Emails and other correspondence are kept as long as reasonably needed to respond to enquiries, deal with corrections, and maintain appropriate records. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security and operational purposes.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — including under the UK and EU GDPR, and under California and other US state privacy laws — you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to object to certain processing, and to receive a copy of it.
To exercise any of these, contact us through the contact page. We’ll respond within the time your local law requires. We won’t treat you differently for exercising a privacy right.
Children
This site is intended for a general adult audience and isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Other sites we link to
We link to external sources so you can check our facts. Once you follow a link, you’re on someone else’s site under their privacy policy, not ours.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page as the site develops — particularly if we add analytics or advertising. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
Contact
Questions about privacy, or a request about your information, can be sent through the contact page.
