By using Kitchen Answers (mykitchenanswers.com), you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree with them, please don’t use the site.
What this site provides
Kitchen Answers publishes general cooking information: ingredient substitutions, measurement conversions, food storage guidance, cooking temperatures and interactive tools that help you work out an answer for your situation.
It’s provided for general information only. It’s free to use and you don’t need an account.
Food safety and health
This is the most important section on the page, so please read it.
Nothing on this site is medical, dietary, nutritional or professional advice. If you’re managing a food allergy, coeliac disease, or any other medical condition, follow the guidance of your doctor or dietitian rather than anything you read here.
Food safety information on this site is drawn from published guidance by bodies such as the USDA, FDA, Health Canada, UK Food Standards Agency and Food Standards Australia New Zealand, and we name our sources. But that guidance assumes conditions we can’t verify — how fresh your ingredients were, how cold your refrigerator actually runs, how long something sat out. You are responsible for judging whether food in your kitchen is safe to eat. When in doubt, throw it out.
Guidance also differs between countries, and we flag that where we know of it. Follow the guidance issued by the food safety authority where you live.
Accuracy, and no warranties
We check facts carefully and cite sources, and we correct errors when we find them or when they’re reported. Even so, the site is provided “as is.” We don’t warrant that everything is complete, current or error-free, and published guidance changes over time.
Cooking results depend on your ingredients, equipment and technique. A substitution that works in one recipe may not work in another, which is why we try to say when a substitution isn’t advisable.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kitchen Answers and its owner are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or reliance on its content — including spoiled ingredients, failed recipes, or illness resulting from food handling.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and this clause doesn’t affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
Links to other sites
We link to external sources so you can verify what we’ve written. We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for their content, accuracy or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement of everything on the site it points to.
Advertising and affiliate links
The site may carry advertising and affiliate links. Any purchase you make from a third-party retailer is a transaction between you and that retailer, governed by their terms — not ours. See the affiliate disclosure for how this works.
Our content
The writing, tools and design on this site belong to Kitchen Answers unless stated otherwise. You’re welcome to read it, use the advice in your own kitchen, print a page for personal use, and quote a short extract with credit and a link.
Please don’t republish substantial portions, scrape the site, or reproduce our content as your own.
Things you send us
If you send us a correction, question or suggestion, you’re giving us permission to act on it and, where relevant, to publish a corrected version of the page. We won’t publish your personal details without asking. How we handle your information is covered in the privacy policy.
Changes
We may update these terms as the site develops. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
