The short version
Some links on Kitchen Answers may be affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission. It costs you nothing extra, and it never changes what we recommend.
What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link is a link to a product on another retailer’s site that includes a code identifying where you came from. If you buy something after following one, the retailer pays a small percentage to the site that referred you.
You pay exactly the same price you would have paid anyway. The commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not your pocket.
How this affects what we write
It doesn’t, and we want to be specific about what that means rather than just asserting it.
- We don’t recommend a product because it pays a commission, or recommend a worse one because it pays more.
- We don’t write pages whose purpose is to sell something. Pages exist to answer a question.
- If the honest answer is that you don’t need to buy anything, that’s what the page will say. A lot of the advice on this site costs nothing at all.
- We won’t recommend something we wouldn’t suggest to someone who asked us in person.
Advertising
Kitchen Answers may also display advertising, including through Google AdSense or similar networks. Advertisers don’t get any say in the site’s content, and an advertiser appearing on a page is not an endorsement by us or of us.
How advertising uses cookies and data is covered in the privacy policy.
Why we’re telling you this
Disclosing material connections is required by the US Federal Trade Commission and equivalent rules in other countries. It’s also simply the right way to run a site that asks you to trust its recommendations.
If anything here is unclear, ask us through the contact page.
